At local South African time on September 23, the 10th HOMELIFE South Africa International Home & Gift Fair 2026 grandly kicked off at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg!
1.Omnichannel buyers source products on-site
From the moment it opened, the venue quickly gained momentum, showcasing a concentrated lineup of quality Chinese products
The HOMELIFE South Africa Exhibition has been successfully held for nine consecutive sessions and certified by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), making it one of the important economic and trade platforms for Chinese enterprises to explore the African market.
This exhibition focuses on the African home consumer market, bringing together dedicated zones for household daily necessities, kitchen and dining products, beauty and personal care items, outdoor leisure goods, office supplies and gifts. It gathers over 200 Chinese enterprises from 31 cities across 9 provinces and municipalities including Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong and Fujian, who are presenting a curated collection of "quality Chinese home products" at the event.

The exhibition venue continues to see a strong flow of visitors, with consultations, negotiations and business matching seamlessly unfolding at the booths of all participating enterprises. Diverse buyers including supermarket chains, importers, brand agents, regional distributors and e-commerce channels from the local South African and Southern African markets have gathered at the event, moving beyond merely "viewing products" to in-depth "cooperation discussions", where the Chinese supply chain and local African procurement demands are rapidly converging.

3. Why South Africa?
The procurement radius is expanding from the "South African market" to the "Southern African market"
South Africa is one of the most important economies on the African continent, a member of BRICS, the 2025 G20 rotating chair, and a gateway hub radiating to the Southern African market. According to Chinese statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and South Africa reached 52.46 billion US dollars in 2025, up 18% year on year; the trade volume between China and Africa hit 295.6 billion US dollars, a 4.8% increase year on year. China has been Africa's largest trading partner for many consecutive years, and South Africa has long been among China's largest trading partners in Africa.

Focusing on the home living sector, the growth logic is equally clear. As Africa's middle class continues to expand and urbanization advances rapidly, there is strong demand for consumer goods such as home daily necessities, kitchen and tableware, and beauty and personal care products; in South Africa, influenced by climate and living habits, the growth of niche categories such as wigs and hair care, beauty and personal care, and patio and outdoor products is particularly prominent. Built on a base of over 1.4 billion people, Johannesburg, as the economic hub of southern Africa, is not only the gateway to the South African market but also a fulcrum radiating across the consumer landscape of the entire African continent.
When the "policy window" and the "peak procurement season" align in the same September, the door of Johannesburg swings wider than in previous years.
4. Collection of Hot Products
The "African Footprint" of China's Hot Home Goods
The distribution of exhibitors at this HOMELIFE South Africa Exhibition outlines a clear "Map of Popular Home Products in South Africa" — the categories with the highest concentration of exhibitors are usually the areas where on-site buyers linger the longest and hold the most intensive negotiations.
In terms of the category distribution of exhibited products, household daily necessities, kitchen and dining supplies, and beauty and personal care have become the relatively concentrated popular tracks at the venue.
The household daily necessities section covers the high-frequency inelastic demand of African households. Dongguan Wenle's laundry products, Hangzhou Mingxuan, and Guangdong Kangyi brought daily consumables such as toilet paper; Jiangmen Xiongyi's storage boxes/containers, Nantong Xinyunuo's bath pillows, and Guangdong Wanxin's toothpicks form a matrix of "good daily necessities".
The Kitchen & Dining Supplies Zone caters to both household and commercial scenarios. On display are frying pans from Zhejiang Dingshi, airtight jars from Zhejiang Zhenghong, stock pots and steel pots from Jiangmen Xinghua, and plastic cups from Dongguan Weilixing. These products not only meet the daily needs of home kitchens but also cover commercial scenarios such as catering and hotels, providing buyers with a wider range of sourcing options.

The Beauty & Personal Care Zone directly targets the inelastic demand for hair styling and cosmetics in Africa. Xuchang Hongyang Biochemistry, a representative of the wig industry cluster in Xuchang, Henan, presented its wig products to cater to the inelastic demand for hair styling in Africa; skincare products from Guangzhou Zongdu, hair dyes from Guangzhou Weinuya, and razors from Ningbo Jianpu Metal Products echo the Consumption Upgrade in the beauty and personal care sector. From wigs and hair styling to skincare and personal care, China's mature industrial cluster supply chains are forging more direct connections with local consumer demand in Africa.

The stationery & office supplies and festive gifts section caters to scenarios ranging from daily writing to festive celebrations. Beifa Group, a calling card of China's pen manufacturing industry, presents its gel pens; Hefei Caiyang Stationery covers office and cultural & educational scenarios; the plastic crafts from Guangdong Sicheng enrich the selection of festive gifts, offering more options for both festive gifting and daily consumption.
