This conference is co-hosted by the Organizing Committee of the South Africa Expo, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in South Africa, and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa. It aims to deepen the strategic synergy in economic and trade cooperation between China and South Africa, implement the 2025–2029 South Africa-China Trade and Investment Cooperation Program, and focus on core topics such as the interpretation of the upgrading trend of China-Africa economic and trade cooperation, investment and industrial opportunities in the African market, and business matching and contract signing for Chinese and African enterprises. It serves as a high-level cooperation platform for Chinese and South African enterprises to jointly explore new development opportunities.
The conference attracted nearly a thousand representatives from the governments, business communities, industry associations and enterprises of China and South Africa. The atmosphere on the spot was lively, demonstrating the firm willingness of the two countries to deepen cooperation. At the opening ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa Wu Peng stated that current China-South Africa relations continue to develop rapidly, with deepening mutually beneficial cooperation across various fields, bringing significant benefits to the people of both nations. This conference serves as a practical measure to strengthen consensus on trade and investment cooperation, as well as an important platform for promoting efficient alignment of capital, technology, resources, and markets between the two countries.
Zuko Godlimpi, the Deputy Minister for Trade, Industry and Competition of South Africa, said that the long-term trade and investment partnership between South Africa and China has played an important role in South Africa's economy, employment and overall development. The South African government will continue to optimize the business environment, focusing on promoting cooperation in areas such as mining, manufacturing, green economy, pharmaceuticals and infrastructure, and looks forward to attracting more Chinese investment to jointly shape a fairer, more mutually beneficial and win-win future.
During the conference, a number of signing ceremonies were held, achieving fruitful results. Among them, the South Africa-China Economic and Trade Association (SACETA) and the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BUSA) signed a Memorandum of understanding on strengthening the promotion of trade and investment between China and South Africa, aiming to enhance the communication mechanism between the bilateral business communities and promote information sharing and project matching. In addition, several enterprises from China and South Africa signed cooperation agreements on the spot, marking a solid step forward in practical cooperation between enterprises of the two countries.

Against the backdrop of rising uncertainties in global economic and trade cooperation, China-South Africa cooperation has continued to develop steadily. China has been South Africa's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years. Up to now, more than 200 Chinese enterprises have invested in South Africa, with a cumulative amount exceeding 10 billion US dollars, jointly writing a new chapter in the development of China-South Africa cooperation.
